Interesting--what this suggests is that some Buddhists in Canada are busy
bringing Buddhism to prisoners, as happens in some states in the USA.
Those CA prisoners claiming to be Buddhists were probably converted; usually
it's to vipassana meditation practice. Some reports claim that it helped
such prisoners a lot to deal with being there and also with lifelong
problems.

Sorry. They were a cryptic and poorly worded. One percent of the Canadian
population claims to be Buddhist. Two percent of the inmates in Canadian
prisons claim to be Buddhist. This means that the proportion of Buddhists in
prison is double the proportion of Buddhists in the general population.
