In my view, transference (an example of the workings of the
unconscious, btw) is one of the fundamental pillars of Buddhism.

Without it, the whole Zen thing just doesn't work. Vajrayana too.

Agreed...in fact, without it no religion works, all kinds of
social leadership go flat,
it's doubtless the basis of charisma as well.
