The link is to a transcript of a talk by David Pierce who believes that through a combination of technology, pharmacology and genetics it is not only possible to abolish suffering, but that there is an imperative to do so. Page contains a podcast of the talk as well.

I thought it was interesting but fatally flawed as it relies on the notion that pleasure IS happiness which isn't workable.  

Thought it might be something else to argue about :-)
