[Buddha-l] What's the use of buddha-l?

hello all,
... in reply to postings on the topic through buddha-l Digest, Vol 58, Issue 35.
I see that the question is arising out of curiosity, a desire to know what was not known.
I can certainly envision a world without Buddha-L, but then again I can also envision a world within me. Not that I am yearning for either.
But it is against a Buddhist principle to take life. Not that Buddha-L is a person or other "being" ... (so please forgive my conceptual looseness here) ...
... and which nonetheless, in this (loose) way, suggests not killing of Buddha-L when it is alive and squiggling!
I see, though, that many people do in fact appreciate Buddha-L quite a lot.
I can add my own name to that list, since through the years I have repeatedly felt appreciation that there is a (virtual) location where those interested in Buddhist questions can ask them and those interested in reading the responses of some very knowledgeable and good-hearted people can see those responses.
And then there is the wit and playfulness and jousting that goes on, all in the search for understanding.
In thanks for all of the years so far of this group.
May it continue to be available.
Mitchell ==========
