I googled that phrase and got pages of references to the Pope and to ID
folk.
Hence, forget it, better to ask another troglodyte. So thanks for your
troglodytic explanation.
Am aware of the changes in evolution theory you noted but had never come
across that particular phrase.
Today there is increasing evidence that some characteristic are acquired via
environmental conditions. Lamarck might not have been so wrong after
all--just misguided.
Back into my cave.
