[Buddha-l] Buddhaghosa's sources

[Piya Tan]

I'm preparing teaching notes on Buddhaghosa's sources for his 
commentaries. I remember reading somewhere that, having rendered the 
Sinhala Atthakatha into Pali, the original Sinhala texts were 
committed to a great bonfire.

Could someone please let me know the source of this story or legend?
