Subject Area Editors
Encyclopaedia Britannica has openings for experienced editors with
subject-area expertise to work on the Encyclopaedia Britannica database.
Responsibilities will include:
Commissioning and editing articles related to one of the subject areas
listed below;
Coordinating fact-checking with research editors;
Working with media and map editors.
These positions require:
· A proven ability to edit for general readers;
· Outstanding writing and organizational skills, attention to detail,
productivity, and the capacity to work in a team environment;
· An MA or PhD in the subject area (desirable, but significant editorial
experience in the area can be considered in lieu of an advanced degree).
o Subject areas include:
Life sciences and medicine
Earth sciences
Middle Eastern geography/history
South and Southeast Asian geography/history
Anthropology and languages
Music and dance
Literature and theater

Research Editor
We are also looking for a Research Editor to fact-check Encyclopaedia
Britannica articles in the social sciences, arts, languages, and some
sciences. Must have fact-checking experience and a BA or advanced degree
in one of these areas.

Other Information
· These positions are located at our headquarters in downtown Chicago and
are convenient to public transportation.
· Benefits include medical, dental, life and disability insurance, 401(k)
