Cameron,
If you have not had time to look into a basic source that was
recommended to you to answer your questions, you probably should
not be posting to this list.
There are, however, some here who may find your most recent question
worth discussing, if only because when Buddhism emerged may not be
that closely tied to the dates when the historical Buddha supposedly
taught.
As to the emergence of Buddhism in relation to other world religions,
you might want to do a Google search on the phrase "axial age".
