Careful now. Besmirching 'regional ego-surrogates', whom some
conflate with themselves, can have dire consequences. Helps to be
subtle or ironic in such a manner that neither catch on <g>. 

Surely, everyone is thankful that nation-states and religions transcend
such distortion and delusion therefore you judiciously excluded both in
your example.
