Of course when fruit, nuts, and some vegetables are harvested it
doesn't kill the tree,or plant. By the time grain is harvested the
plant itself is usually dessicated - and, in that state, it hard to
beleive there is any response to being cut. If you hold plants to be
sentient, then root and leafy vegetables might be a problem.
