Amazing how neighboring Bhutan - which was just as "backward", and had a
very similar regime and culture to Tibet ("serfs" and all), has managed to
progress without being "peacefully liberated" and "modernized" by China.

Ha! Yes, isn't it! Yet the media faithfully reproduce Chinese boilerplate (a
la "fair and balanced") without ever citing the example of Bhutan.
