We had an election. It's called democracy. Canada (which is what I assume you mean by 'CA', which also stands for 'California') isn't 'that way'; Canada's Prime Minister (or 'PM') is 'that way', and he governs in the imperial style. This message has no Buddhist content (sorry).

What Canada has is a Conservative government that believes that if the
Anglican Church was good enough for Jesus and is still good enough for the
Queen, it's good enough for Canadian felons. It also has a government that
thinks that environmentalists and First Nations tribal elders are foreign
agitators, while CEOs of British, Dutch and American oil and gas companies
are guarding "the True North strong and free."
