I don't know. In the UK there is an established church. and religious
studies is a compulsory subject in schools yet I'd wager there are far
fewer religious fanatics and loonies there than in the USA.

In the USA you have some constitutional clause against mixing religion
and government - yet religion seems to play a much bigger role in
politics and government than in other western countries that have no
such prohibition.

In London there is a big mosque in Regents Park, a large Buddhist
stupa in Battersea Park - right across the Thames from the House of
Parliament  - and a lovely Pagoda in Kew Gardens. Would you suggest
that these have no place on these public lands?
