[Buddha-l] blind Huineng (Dan Lusthaus)

Hello all, 
I was suspicious when in the various versions of the Platform Sutra I have here, in Section 8, Hui Neng asks by the fellow rice-pounder to be taken to the hall where the poem is written on the wall, so that he (Hui Neng) can see it. 
The comment was made by a friend in something written to me. 
Thank you Dan (and Piya and Stuart and all) for confirming that there is no basis for claiming that Hui Neng was blind.
