Hi, Asoka is reported to have kill or beheaded (and ordered) thousands of Nigranthas for offensive drawings of the Buddha (The Legend of King Asoka - A study and translation of the Asokavadana (1982) by John Strong; p.232) How do this fit with the non-violent image of Asoka's non-violence?
