Lucien Gregory Weeramantry was the councel who appeared for Somarama Thero. Somarama Thero converted to Christianity just before he was executed.


Chandra Edirisuriya, wrote in The Island (12th August 2009), "Innocents go to gallows":

"It was also said that Talduwe Somarama Thera was not the real culprit in the assassination of Prime Minister S. W. R. D. Bandaranaike, who knew Somarama Thera well enough and that his saying in an address to the nation on radio, in the evening on the day before he died that a man dressed in the robes of a Buddhist monk shot at him at his bungalow, gave rise to suspicion as to the identity of the murderer. In addition, a heap of robes were found at the scene of the shooting and a man in ‘running shorts’ had been seen running away and jumping over the wall of an adjoining house. "

Any writings of his? A political manifesto? Transcripts of his trial speeches?
