[Buddha-l] Ts'ao-ch'i or Caoxi?

You asked about ch'i/qi versus hsi/xi ....
Is this important, or just a matter of curiosity?

I'd say it's more curiosity than importance. Just an oddity that I noticed and then became curious about, given the *non*-parallel between W-G Ts'ao-ch'i and Pinyin Caoxi. Oh, I noticed that John Blofeld in The Transmission of Mind uses Ts'ao-hsi ! (unlike Yampolsky or Charles Luk, who cite the name as Ts'ao-ch'i).
