Medical conditions are generally not a matter of "belief". I will suggest 
the same course of action I recommended to Richard B. Survey some Buddhist 
monastic communities.

Constipation is one possible cause (but not necessarily -- one can have 
chronic constipation and never develop hemorrhoids). Women often get them 
related to pregnancy and childbirth (not the reason for most monastics' 
cases). That there are additional causes besides prolonged sitting does not 
negate prolonged sitting as a cause. That would be analogous to arguing that 
there are causes of death other than bullets, therefore bullets don't cause 
death.
