[Buddha-l] What's the use of buddha-l?

Richard is essentially right, I think. A number of fora have simply been
superseded. I still read B-L just to see what a few old favourites are
saying. It’s like dropping in to an old café where a few old-timers still
gather at one of the otherwise empty tables. One brings a newspaper, and
they talk over what is in the news. But the buzz has moved on to the
“pavement” café in the covered mall a mile away. Should the café close? It
depends on the rent. If the rent is low, and if Maria is still happy to open
up in the mornings, then why not continue? But if there is pressure on the
real-estate, it will have to go.
Richard says “With such resources as wikipedia, Google scholar, facebook,
blogger and wordpress providing easy access to information, misinformation,
opinion and prejudice in much larger quantities than buddha-l can provide
them, who needs buddha-l?” A saying of mine is that the internet is the
compost heap of opinion. Most of it is rotten, but most of it rots down and
provides the nutrition for vegetables and flowers.

All the best
