If you open Firefox and type in about:config in the address bar, you'll find
that you can configure virtually every aspect of Firefox. Enter safe into the
Filter window and up pops a list of all aspects of the browser.safebrowsing
elements that can be configured, including the browser.safebrowsing.enabled
one. Double click on that one to toggle it from true to false (if it is true)
and you're done.
This is on Firefox 3.5.1 for OpenBSD and mine has never been enabled, so your
mileage may vary.
