Though Dan is right that Google and other sites are increasingly  
sophisticated in targeting ads to viewers, the joke worked for me. If  
it didn't for you, juxtaposed with Toulmin's example of the assertion  
that "You should use a hearing aid," was an ad for... hearing aids.

Pretty funny, and a wonderful example of how a computer might think  
this was a *perfect* spot to place a hearing aid ad. Glad to be  
reassured that we're still ahead--at least in a few ways.
