Leonard Cohen (a Canadian -- obligatory Canada reference) has studied  
Renzai-ji with Joshu Sasaki Roshi for some decades now. A few years  
ago he retreated to the Mt. Baldy Renzai-ji Zen Center for several  
months. He remarked that, if he had stayed in Los Angeles, he would  
have become just another O.J. Simpson expert.
