I think Bertrand Russell gave the best advice on diet than anyone
has given. He said that if you wish to be healthy, choose your
parents very carefully, then eat exactly what you feel like
eating, but in moderation.

Or consider George Bernard Shaw on food. He is alleged to have
said (no source):
Everything I eat has been proved by some doctor or other to be a
deadly poison, and everything I don't eat has been proved to be
indispensable for life. But I go marching on."
and (for obligatory Buddhist content):
"A vegetarian is not a person who lives on vegetables, any more
than a Catholic is a person who lives on cats."
Respectfully yours,
Joanna
