I know of at least one famous example of SIZE being used for emphasis in
calligraphy - although it is from Japan (but still it is "chinese"
calligraphy). This is the calligraphy of Hakuin who once wrote
"meditation in the MIDST of activity is a thousand times superior to
meditation in stillness":
