Hello,

Daosheng's Commentary on Vimalakirti Sutra - together with Kumarajiva's and
Senzhao's [T. 1775] - is translated in :

Carré, Patrick : Introduction aux pratiques de la non-dualité : commentaire
du Soûtra de la liberté inconcevable (coll. «Trésors du bouddhisme»);
Paris, Fayard, 2004.

Hope it helps,

I am looking for information (in English) on Tao-Sheng (360-434
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tao_Sheng). Here's what I've found so far:

(1) A brief section in John S. Strong's "The Experience of Buddhism":
"8.3 Do All Beings Have Buddha-Nature?" p. 291-293. This is adapted from
"A Biography of Chu Tao-Sheng" Monumenta Nipponica 11 (1955): 304-5.

(2) Some online sources at the "nichirencoffeehouse" website, especially
this: http://nichirenscoffeehouse.net/books/NirvanaSutra12.html

(3) "Tao-Sheng's Commentary on the Lotus Sutra: A Study and Translation"
by Young-Ho Kim.

Tao-Sheng is famous for two things (that I know of). First, he insisted
that "all beings have Buddha-nature" at a time when this was
"officially" denied in Chinese Buddhism - in fact he got himself
temporarily ex-communicated until the official line was changed.
Secondly he also wrote about the Lotus Sutra and is very influential in
Pure Land Buddhism.

I am pretty much interested in absolutely anything that relates to
Tao-Sheng in any way - if anyone has suggestions I will be very grateful!

Curt Steinmetz
