Saludos, Pedro......
But that IS rightly spelled--it contains two d-type phonemes: a dental d and
an aspirated dental dh--thus Bud-dha. If pronounced correctly of course.
You no doubt are right--it will eventually descend into B-D.
Being slightly dyslexic when I type, I have wondered if I'd find it easy to
learn to read Arabic, where the vowels are rarely indicated--if I knew the
vocabulary, I wouldn't need the vowels. This is what happens to my English
when I type. Yikes!

........... so I think you will have to wait a long time before Buddha is
rightfully spelled: Buda. Unless, some version of Buddha in texting becomes
popular first, maybe B-D?
Fonetically yours,
Pedro (or, if you prefer, how an old professor used to pronounce it: Pee -
druh. Now, that's barbarian spelling again!)
