He worked from the Chinese texts, and notes that these (all, or some?) were
Chinese translations from Indian Sanskrit texts. I haven't read through the
entire discussion in this part of the Intro. so that's all I can offer on
this question now. See his Introduction, p.20.

Interesting that these four are all sutras popular in China - is his
critique of the Chinese versions or translations of the Chinese versions?
