Interesting.
However, this quarrel had nothing to do with religion, but with bad or
unhealthy food in a Muslim restaurant. Seems the mainly Tibetan populace had
been annoyed with this restaurant for some time. In this instance, trashing
the mosque could be read as a politically rather than religiously motivated
act, the mosque being the local Hui's main identity symbol. One wonders also
if the local Muslims are currying favor with the rulers against the
Tibetans.
