This gets back to the old question - if a tree falls in a forest and there
is nobody there to hear it, does it still make a sound?

You can ask the same thing about leaving a room unoccupied. Is a room (or
part thereof) invisible the moment it is not being viewed?

Obviously the room is still there in the same way that the falling of the
tree did send out sound waves. However if there is no functioning receiver
(sense organ) to pick up the signals, they remain unheard or unseen
vibrations. Same as a radio that is switched off. The sound waves are
still being broadcast but they won't be converted into sound without the
radio receiver. Then of course it still requires a person receiver
(including animals) to convert the sound vibrations to sound.

However the most profound question of all is - if a man makes a statement in
the forest and there is no woman there to hear him, is he still wrong?

Kate
