In US politics, the labels left-wing and right-wing have nearly lost all
meaning and are now used only to heap abuse on the person or views to which
the label is attached.

Generally speaking, if someone is in favor of any sort of civilization or
civilized behavior, the label "extreme left" is applied. If one thinks it is
not a bad idea to have a police force and a banking system, the
label "extreme right" is applied. If one thinks that police forces and
banking systems are compatible with civilization, then one is a called an
extreme centrist and will be despised uniformly by everyone.

Myself, I resist being defined as left-wing, right-wing or center-bird and
might better be characterized as either an abovist or belowist (depending on
whether you view me standing upright or by doubling over and peering
backwards between your legs.

Have politics come to Singapore yet, or have you been spared all these idiotic
labels?

Yours from nowhere,
Richard
