I see that Dr Peavler is still reading buddha-l with a pre-9/11 mentality.
Joking, irony, hyperbole, understatement, rhetorical flourishes and wit are
no longer allowed on buddha-l, since they are all violations of Buddhist
speech precepts and thus classified as acts of terrorism against those who
love freedom.

For various security reasons, this new policy, which came into effect on 9/12
could not be announced in public. It has, however, been rigorously enforced.
Lovers of freedom can rest assured, however, that every contributor to
buddha-l who has joked, ironed, hyperbolized, understated or rhetorically
flourished has been secretly arrested and sent to Guantánamo for detention.
The plan is to keep all detainees there until hell freezes over, which, given
the current state of global warming, has been postponed indefinitely.
