Hi Mike,

"If the video gamer can master the game as a means to awakening, perhaps 
it could be a useful tool. However, I think your first assessment had a 
more probable outcome - where the video gamer becomes slave to the game 
and is removed from "basic reality."

We could invent a video game (sadhana) in which the gamers would identify with a great hero (mahaavira), with many arms and powerful weapons, with which he would triumph over the evil ones and save all sentient beings from the Matrix. To make the game even more attractive we could give the great hero a lovely girlfriend. 

That could be useful indeed, but then as you say the gamers shouldn't become slave to the game. ;-)
