Joanna -

I can't personally vouch for the accuracy of this information, but I hope it
may be of help.

Sincerely,

Steve Hopkins

Below, info copied from Prof Tucker's (East Carolna U) webpage about Kyoto.
There, he also lists a few more places where foreign students may practice
on a daily basis.

John Einarsen's 'Zen and Kyoto', a beautifully produced book which I bought
when visiting last summer, offers further information about both the places
that Tucker mentions, especially emphasising the opportunities at the Kyoto
Kokusai Zendo (Kyoto International Zendo - the first mentioned below) in
Kameoka City, west of Kyoto, for which he gives an both English language
telephone number 0771 24-0152, and a Japanese 23-1784. Hozumi Roshi, who
studied under Yamada Mumon Roshi, teaches at Kokusai Zendo.
