Now how about a real life story, the source of most folklore? Back in 1976 I took a vipassanacourse in Bodhgaya and the teacher was (by his own saying) a former president of the Bangkok Abhidharma Institute. He was a good yogateacher too. A few years later I learned that he was living in Germany, not far from the place where I lived in the Netherlands. I went to see him and invited him to teach in a Buddhist meditationcentre I had set up with a few friends. It appeared he had a young wife and a babydaughter. He worked as a carpenter in a factory. It appeared to be very important for him to have an opportunity to teach again. He also tried to graduate in university. A few years later I heard he had left his wife, started his own yoga- and meditationcentre, being very popular with the German ladies.
