Thanks to Dan posting the Shantideva link, I came across this?
Who are meant here "by the Jinas themselves..."  not the Jaini jinas? or was 
that term in general application for saintly people?

22. If sentient beings of different dispositions have not been satisfied by 
the Jinas themselves, then how could they be like an ignorant person like 
myself? So, what is the point of attending to the world?
