Call for Papers
9th Sakyadhita Conference
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
June 17 to 21, 2006
Temple Tour: June 22 to 24, 2006
Sakyadhita International Association of Buddhist Women is pleased to 
announce that the 9th Sakyadhita International Conference on Buddhist Women 
will be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from June 17 to 21, 2006. The 
conference will be followed by a temple tour from June 22 to 24.
Conference Theme: Buddhist Women in the Global Multicultural Community
Proposals for papers are being accepted on research related to Buddhist 
women and topics of interest to Buddhist women. Proposals should be 250-500 
words in length. The extended deadline for submissions is October 15, 2005. 
Paper proposals should include institutional affiliation and contact 
information of the sender. The following possible sub-themes have been 
suggested:
 Translating the Dharma: Buddhism, Multi-Culturalism and Language
 Buddhist Women and Multi-Religious Dialogue
 Race, Class, and Gender in the Buddhist Diaspora
 Dialogue Across Cultures: Links and Common Ground
 Dharma and Crosscultural Communications
 Buddhism and Global Politics
 Buddhism and Cultural Change: Issues of Family and Sexual Orientation
Further suggestions for sub-themes are welcome. We also welcome proposals 
for workshops. The following topics are under consideration for workshops:
 Nonviolent Communications Skills
 You Don't Understand Me (Respectful Listening Skills)
 Getting to Yes (Developing Consensus)
 What's the Problem? (Developing Problem-solving Skills)
 Organizational Development for Buddhist Women's Groups
 Unlearning Racism/Classism/Sexism
