We're talking black holes, into which all wisdom would be sucked, never
again to emerge.

Hey, I fled the country during the Vietnam war and lived with a bunch of
Quakers (refugees from the McCarthy era) in a remote part of the
mountains of western Canada. And I marched in a demonstration once and
chanted some anti-American slogans in French in front of the US embassy
in Ottawa. Don't I get a few hippie points for THAT---even though I did
have my clown nose in the pocket of my coveralls, right next to my
copies of the Communist Manifesto, the Sayings of Chairman Mao and the I
Ching, and the tattered picture of Che?
