You among others probably missed my all-important qualifier "supposedly". 
In fact, Hitler was not a vegetarian -- he regularly guzzled sausages and 
meat broth.  The vegetarian image was fostered by Goebels to promote the 
myth that Hitler was a super-human ascetic.
