That's not what the name implies. The name implies they were from Sodom.
Heaven only knows what the people of that town were up to, but it seems
to be illegal in Texas and quite a few other states in the USA. There
are limits on how one may be united in the United States. 

If our current president had his way, the ways of being united would be
very few indeed, despite the fact that he says of himself that he's a
uniter, not a divider. (A recent poll shows that 49% of Americanos think
of him as a uniter, and 49% think of him as a divider. So it seems the
citizens of the USA are evenly divided on whether they are united or
divided.)
