Thank you for this. It looks as though the situation in Australia is
roughly similar to the one in the USA. The fastest-growing religions in
the USA, measured in terms of percentage increase between the 1990 and
2000 census are Hinduism and Sikhism, both of which are surely growing
mostly (but not exclusively) through immigration. A somewhat dated
(1997, just a moment ago in geological times) article on the subject is
Jan Nattier's infromative and thought-provoking piece "Buddhism comes to
main street." It's readily available on line on several sites, one of
them being http://www.urbandharma.org/udharma/mainstreet.html .
