The point still holds.  One may have a reason to meditate but, while one 
is doing it, who benefits? One could well suppose that one's motives are 
noble, but this could be just auto-suggestion. And following this serves 
nobody else - while one is doing it, that is. Then one may say that this 
preparation to benefit others, but that is not proven either. Certainly, 
it is not proven to Pope Benedict XVI. It is thus down to faith.  On the 
one hand, Buddhists are setting about proving it, but on the other hand, 
Pope Finespeak XVI could never know for sure.
