As far as my Sanskrit goes, I remember 'bhag' also means 'to devote',
as in 'bhakti' (with sandhi popping in making 'g', a soft guttural, to
'k', a voiceless plosive, before another voiceless plosive 't').
'-Vant' means 'endowed with', so litterally it would mean 'who is
endowed with devoting/devotion'. It has a different meaning from 'who
is worthy of respect'.
Or is it?
