One person I heard being interviewed during those dark days insisted
that the word "liberal" means *any* Socialist intent on destroying the
American way of life, not only those who happen to be senators from
Massachusetts. (You can imagine how relieved I was to learn that I still
qualify to wear the label, despite the fact that my Socialist
grandfather defected from Boston nearly 100 years ago.)
